For Project 1, I am envisioning a global epicenter, like the United Nations, being over taken by various nationalist groups. Although globalization has increased over the past decade, over-tourism, appropriation, and xenophobia are popular issues plaguing even the most diverse societies. Visually, I am imagining a political party juxtaposed with a tourist group harming a protected site or appropriating that nation's attire.
A secondary idea is creating a technology farm where individuals are focusing more on over-consumerism and the consumption of resources and less on the vitality of natural wildlife, agriculture, and the environment. For visuals, I see the sun being covered by the haze of fossil fuels burning (most likely to create more products that will end up in a landfill), while the illumination in the image is from the glow of technology.
My last idea is about creating an image that commentates on the social divide between cultural classes. As a college student the most prominent images of this have been the items students own, the experiences students mention, and the lived social experiences. My college experience hasn't always been glamorous because of my social identity and background. Most students are having to work multiple jobs and juggle numerous activities to hopefully move up in society.
