Project #2 Idea
Image 1 – “The Discovery”
A blurry photograph of Bigfoot standing in a clearing, mid-speech, passionately gesturing toward a hand-painted sign that reads “I Exist!”. The photographer’s shadow is visible — hesitant, uncertain whether to believe or expose.
Image 2 – “The Silencing”
Bigfoot sits at a wooden press conference table, microphones in front of him — but every mic is taped over or unplugged. In the background, reporters argue among themselves while “Censored” headlines flash on a screen behind him.
Image 3 – “The Outcry”
Posters and memes flood the internet — some mocking, some supporting Bigfoot. Comments read: “Fake!”, “Freedom of Speech!”, “Disinformation!”. Bigfoot scrolls through his phone, his expression caught between hope and heartbreak.
Image 4 – “The Echo”
Bigfoot stands alone in the forest again, but now dozens of footprints surround him — signs that others have come, listened, and walked beside him. A small sign in the dirt reads: “Speak Your Truth.” The forest is quiet, but no longer empty.

Project 02 Pitch
Project 02 Modern Mythology
Grendel Pitch:
Conceptually, depicting the tortured monster as being born from death and maligned for that outward appearance. It explores the nature versus nurture debate, suggesting that Grendel is a Frankenstein's monster, tormented by existence.
Puck Pitch:
Puck, as the spirit of love and ambiguity, embodies all aspects of this character, referencing the history through Robert Goodfellow and their mythological history as the god of trickery, joy, and sin. His identity as a facilitator illustrates how Puck stands as a symbol of the balance between good and evil within humanity.
- Love & Passion
Dante & Babel Pitch:
Exploring self and identity to address trauma and the effects of experience, as well as the devaluation and influence on the future. The bigger question is what truly defines the self: the past, the present, or the future actions taken, do you take the time to ignore and suppress or focus and heal.
- Punishment
- Reconciliation
- Mental & Physical Health
Prajita Project 2 idea
For my project I wanted to do a fun spin on tinder and call it “Swipe Fable” which will be a interactive digital narrative that reimagines fairy-tale characters navigating the modern world of dating apps. Using a Tinder-inspired interface, viewers will swipe through profiles of iconic Disney princes and princesses but instead of romantic clichés, each character will reveal reflections on real-world issues like gender expectations, toxic relationships, environmental awareness, and self-identity.
This project will use humor, irony, and symbolism to critique how love and identity are packaged in both fairy tales and modern digital culture.
Riley's Project 2
My idea is Anakin Skywalker and tie it with mental health in men, and how it is often ignored. As anyone has seen Star Wars, you'd know that if the Jedi put more effort in helping Anakin, he would not have turned to the dark side. So my idea is to show Anakin in being treated correctly, and him restoring the force, instead of turning into the Sith.
Liam Project 2 Idea
My idea for project 2 is to depict Hecate, the Greek goddess of magic and crossroads. She is a triple goddess as well. I want to make the depiction of crossroads to be important to the piece, and have it represent a deeper meaning with this generation's future.
Layla's Project Two Ideas
As for my project, I was thinking to do mine of the Jack and the Beanstalk story and tie it into environmental issues and climate change. So as Jack plants the seed the beanstalk never grows. The giant in this story represents greedy media corporations up in the sky - avoiding the filth and destruction from below.
Layah's Project 2 Ideas
My first idea hovers around the idea of "What happens if Hell froze over?" I'm imagining using Hades as my mythical being suffering from the effects of climate change. This centers around the phenomena of polar regions/the ice caps melting and having climate regions shift because of human emissions and behaviors. I'm imagining using Disney's version of Hades since he uses many facial expressions to describe his emotions as well as his sense of humor.
My second idea is using the African mythical creature Crocotta to discuss the issue of free speech and censorization. Crocotta is said to mimic the voices of human speech to trick and lure them to their deaths. I am considering using a juxtaposition of using hate speech of a white supremiscist group specifically the KKK and Crocotta since he is from African mythology. I feel comfortable approaching this topic in a respectful yet impactful way since I have lived experience as an African American that has experienced the effects of hate speech recently.
Sophia's Project 2 Idea
For project 2, I am interested in exploring the Haitian folklore surrounding mermaids/sirens. I would connect this to the the modern day issue of the portrayal of women and the patriarchy.
Amy's Project Two Ideas
I will make imagery of how sirens take form in today's world. Sirens ultimately lead people to their death so one of my images will be Trump as a siren with many followers leading up to him critiquing how blindly following a person can lead to the death of the nation. Another image will be a critique on staying glued to technology, consuming the issues of today instead of taking action. My last image may be a dystopian image of a parent telling their child a story about how the world used to be and what caused it to be what it is in the image. In between these I will have smaller images that lead you to following different stories, making the webpage itself another form of a siren.
Bella's Project 2 Idea
My idea for project two is Persephone, the goddess of spring. She is directly connected to seasons. When she was abducted by hades, her mother (goddess of harvest) was so distraught that the land became too poor to produce vegetation. When persephone returned to her mother, Demeter would let crops grow again creating spring and summer. However, climate change is directly impact these transitions from fall to winter, and spring to summer.
"Climate change is causing seasons to become longer and hotter in some areas and shorter and milder in others, disrupting natural cycles and increasing extreme weather events. Summers are lengthening and becoming hotter, while winters are warming, shorter, and sometimes bringing more intense snow or rain. This leads to earlier spring blooms and longer growing seasons, but it can disrupt ecosystems and lead to longer, more severe wildfire seasons, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency"
The first two pages will give background on Persephone. Something like:
Page 1: Persephone — daughter of Demeter, goddess of the harvest. Wherever she walked, flowers followed. She was light, warmth, and the promise of spring.
Page 2: One day, Hades pulled Persephone to the underworld. Demeter’s grief stopped the crops from growing. A deal was made: Persephone spends half the year above ground, and half below. Her return brings spring. Her departure brings winter.
Then I want to show the four seasons in a 2 x 2 grid. There's a gate in front of each season and when you hover over the gate, it opens. You can click on the gate but what appears is a new page of what that season realistically now looks like.

Jansen's Project 2 Idea
Idea 1: Paddinton and Immigration
The Paddington Bear story first came out on October 13, 1958. This bear traveled on a voyage from Peru, all alone, with only his old leather suitcase. A nice couple, Mr. and Mrs. Brown, who were at the train station waiting for the arrival of their daughter, greeted Paddington with compassion and empathy and took him into their home. He knew no one, had nowhere to go, and was in a completely new place, just as many immigrants are in our country today. For my project, I will retell the Paddington Bear story as if Mr. and Mrs. Brown acted as many do towards immigrants today, with judgment, disrespect, and even hatred. (Additionally, I am thinking about possibly incorporating how it is a common trend today for many to follow a religion and to “live by” its teachings, but not to act with compassion and empathy towards others as the religion tells them to.)
I will create the illustrations on Procreate (if my old iPad still works) or on Adobe Illustrator. I have an idea for the first page to be a large illustration of Paddington's red hat, and you click to view the story.

Idea 2: TBD if Paddington is not approved.
Andrea's Project Two Idea
My main topic is mental health with an emphasis in body image. For this I have chosen to work with Medusa as my character.
This story reimagines Medusa not as a monster, but as a woman struggling with how she sees herself and how the world sees her.
It unfolds through fragmented memories, journal entries, and symbolic imagery that reflect her descent into self-hatred and eventual self-acceptance.

For this project, I'll be using the software, Procreate, to draw these illustrations. This will be a linear narrative, but I don't know specifically how to follow the story in my web page just yet, but brainstorming on the execution of it. The mythological character I'll be doing is Cerberus, the 3-headed dog, but I wont be depicting hell in this. It will be combined with the issue of animal testing and how too much of it can impact wildlife rights. In the webpage(s),it will start out as a normal looking dog, but will be held captive in a cruel environment in a lab room with suffering animals around him. Later in the narrative, we will see the mutation of this seemingly normal dog grow 3 heads which will represent the violation of animal rights, how humans are mix-breeding animals to get unique qualites and alterations of a purebred, and consequences of improper use of animal testing.

Ella's Project 2 ideas
I am going to use Punxsutawney Phil and climate change (an argument could also be used with drug addiction, with his yearly consumption of "the exlier of life" that keeps him immortal) and how he sees it over the years and how he worries about his children, Sunny and Shadow, and his wife Phillis and what their lives will look like in years time.
I'm going to draw the images up in Procreate and then export them as PNGs so they have a transparent background. I want to start with my Index page as the groundhog den (?) entrance, and you click on it to go inside, and the links are primarily through image links. Still unsure if it will end in a groundhog call to action or a grim reality.
Questions, comments, concerns, and complaints are welcome in the comments.

Emilys Project Two Ideas
My main topic is gun violence. I have two different ideas for this topic. I know I want to create a comic-style, linear piece. I will probably draw these digitally on Procreate.
Concept 1: Robinhood is the main character. He represents the poor and uses a bow and arrow. The wealthy are represented by the tiger and the snake from the movie. The wealthy defend themselves with guns. This conveys the difference between third-world countries and first-world countries going to war and the different tactics they have to use depending on what is available to them.
Concept 2: I am leaning towards this idea. The three little bears wear camouflage and are meant to be hunters. Goldilocks is the prey. She wanders near their house but never enters. I show a property line and she is clearly not near the property to make this known. Before she can get close to the property, the three bears shoot her. This concept illustrates the impact of owning a gun and the improper understanding of the 2nd amendment. I am thinking of using text from the amendment in my design.
